Privacy Policy

Last updated: 15 September 2026

Airlectronics (Pty) Ltd (“Airlectronics”, “we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (“POPIA”). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use airlectronics.co.za (the “Site”), why we collect it, how we use and protect it, and what rights you have over it.

1. Who is responsible for your information

Airlectronics (Pty) Ltd is the “responsible party” under POPIA for personal information collected through the Site. Our Information Officer can be contacted at [insert Information Officer name/email], or via our general support address, support@airlectronics.co.za.

2. Information we collect

We collect personal information you give us directly, and some information collected automatically as you use the Site:

  • Account and order details: name, email address, phone number, billing and delivery address, and your order history.
  • Payment information: we do not store your card details ourselves. Payments are processed by Yoco, an independent PCI-DSS-compliant payment provider; see their own privacy policy for how they handle your card data.
  • Delivery information: your delivery address and contact number are shared with our courier partner, Bob Go, and its network of couriers, solely to fulfil and track your order.
  • Support and returns correspondence: anything you tell us when you contact support, request a return, or submit a warranty claim.
  • Technical information: IP address, browser type, device information and pages visited, collected automatically to keep the Site secure and working correctly.
  • Cookies: small files used to keep you logged in, remember your cart, and (where enabled) understand how the Site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings.

3. Why we process your information

We process your personal information for the following purposes, each with a lawful basis under POPIA:

  • To perform our contract with you: processing and delivering your order, handling payments, managing returns and warranty claims, and providing customer support.
  • To comply with legal obligations: for example, keeping financial records as required by tax and consumer protection law.
  • For our legitimate business interests: fraud prevention, Site security, and improving our products and service, balanced against your right to privacy.
  • With your consent: for marketing communications (such as deal alerts), which you may opt out of at any time.

4. Who we share your information with

We only share personal information with third parties where it is necessary to run our business, and always under an agreement that requires them to protect your information:

  • Yoco: to process card payments securely.
  • Bob Go and its courier network: to deliver and track your order.
  • IT and hosting providers: who host and help operate the Site.
  • Regulators or law enforcement: where we are legally required to disclose information.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. How long we keep your information

We keep order and account records for as long as your account is active, and thereafter for as long as necessary to meet our legal, accounting, warranty and tax obligations (typically five years from the relevant transaction, in line with South African record-keeping requirements). You may ask us to delete your account at any time, subject to information we are legally required to retain.

6. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls, and working only with reputable, security-vetted payment and delivery partners, to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and disclosure. No system is completely secure, but we take this responsibility seriously.

7. Your rights under POPIA

You have the right to:

  • Be told what personal information we hold about you, and access it;
  • Ask us to correct or update inaccurate or outdated information;
  • Ask us to delete personal information we no longer have a lawful basis to keep;
  • Object to our processing of your information, including for direct marketing purposes;
  • Withdraw consent you’ve previously given, at any time; and
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa) if you believe we have not handled your information lawfully.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@airlectronics.co.za. The Information Regulator can be reached at inforegulator.org.za or inforeg@justice.gov.za.

8. Children’s information

The Site is intended for use by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or legal guardian, as required by POPIA.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or the law. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. We encourage you to review it periodically.

10. Contact us

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your personal information, contact us at support@airlectronics.co.za.

This policy is a general guide aligned with POPIA and is not a substitute for independent legal advice. We recommend having it reviewed by a qualified attorney before relying on it as your final published policy.
